Default Valley Pan Gasket

Can anyone help me with any do's /don'ts of getting the valley pan off of a 2000 D2.

Pics would be great if you have them. But don't go out of your way.

It's leaking and I need to change the gasket.

Thanks,
Jeff

Follow the Rave CD/shop manual. It is pretty straight forward just be sure to put the RTV in the notches at the end clamps (it tells you in the manual).

Also in the shop manual it will tell you to only slightly tighten the end clamps and then install the fuel rail/lower manifold the tighten the end clamp bolts. The problem is the rear clamp bolt is unreachable under the rear fuel connection so tighten the bolts before you put on the lower IM.

In the "Rave" is there a other name for "valley pan"?

How many miles on your truck, have the head gaskets ever been done before, may need them also.
How did you verify it is the valley pan that is leaking?

Not mine this time (97K / unknown)... but the leak is coming slowly down the bell housing, and I have been reading on here that a valley pan leaking can be mistaken for a head gasket leak. We are going to go thru everything we can because we can't find the origin of the leak.

Just at the beginning of our search and couldn't find that section on Rave. Will check it out again befor we take it in for a pressure test.

Do a coolant pressure test if you want to confirm the location of the leak.
