Default valve cover seapage

Not bad enough to replace yet, but I want to give them a 1/4 - 1/2 turn to see if the slow leakage stops...at least for now. What size socket do the vc bolts take? I tried several english and metric sizes but nothing fits flush and don't want to strip them.

Don't remember the size, if it weren't snowing like gang buster out side, I would go and look.
Carefull when you tighten them, go to snug then no more then 1/4 turn past that.

Anyone else got a minute to check and see if I'm just crazy. I've got my mechanics socket set right here and can't find one to fit snuggly...unless someone stripped them before. I've tried 8-9mm, no fit and 9/32-11/32 w/ no fit. Can't find it in the Rave CD either.

Sorry, I just tried. I never realised how few 12 point wrenches I had. The closest I could get was 8mm and 5/16" and they were both a little loose (I have nothing smaller). The 8mm was a little tighter and probably would work. By the way, how many bolts are there on each valve cover? The two that I could get to were really loose, so I'm glad I checked.

Just FYI for anyone else, it is an 8mm 12 point socket. Most standard mechanics socket sets don't have this size in 12 point so I need to go get one. Regular 8mm hex socket wouldn't work.

Okay, got the 8mm 12 point socket. So, can I just tighten the 2 outside vc bolts on either side, or is it better to do all 4. Can I get to the inside bolts w/out removing the plenum?

You can only tighten the outside bolts and don't get them too tight or they will leak even more.
