Default Valve cover tightening

Hello all,
I am seeping oil out of my valve cover gaskets and I wanted to give them the ol' tightening to prevent it from turning into a "leak". I did some searching and I now know that I need a 12pt 8mm socket to do the job. However I was just checking to see if there are any suggestions on the procedure. For instance should I do the front ones than the rear or vice versa. Also, how tight should I make them. The last thing I want to do is strip the bolt or something when Im just trying to do some preventative maintanence. Please advise. Thanks alot.

Regards

Before you put the turns on the bolts you might check the PCV if it is restricted it will cause oil to be pushed out of the valve covers. The PCV is cheap

The torque spec is 7 ft lbs. Torque them to about 10 and make sure to check them about every 6 months as they will work loose again. The tighter torque just delays them loosening, it doesn't eliminate it.

Just torque them, they are very common to loosen up allowing the v/c gasket to leak.
I always suggest around 8 to 10 #'s of torque or a little more then snug.

Just snug them up good like these guys said, if you overtighten them you will crush the gasket and cause a major leak.
