I am doing a valve cover gasket job on my 2000 Disco II, should I do anything else while im down there? Also replacing coil pack + wires.
What should I use to clean in and around the valve covers? There is a bit of sludge oil in there. I do regular oil changes.
Thanks!

I just started the same process. Was getting a slew of misfires then pulled the VCs and found a serious sludge situation on LH valve cover. When I cleaned my valve covers I just wiped what I could off and shot the rest with carb cleaner. While you're at it, check your PCV valve and hit it with carb cleaner.

Last oil change was maybe 500 miles ago? I noticed the tick right before I hit Rauch Creek a couple weeks back. I had planned to flush my coolant so I thought why not oil change? Used 15w/40 and replaced with K&N 3001 filter.
I went through a few bottles of carb cleaner getting that gunk off lol
