You can't replace just the fan clutch on the 04. That said, unless you want to retrofit an electric fan setup (my preference, but slightly more effort), buy a fan clutch for a 99-02 and the separate fan to go on it. The electric fan setup is nice, though. Just sayin'.

I second the topping off through the bleeder screw, though. Make a small funnel by rolling a piece of paper and leave a gap outside the funnel to let air out. That small of a hole will try to fight you and keep the air in if you use the entire hole.

You should never need the aux fan to come on. 212 is too hot for these engines long term. How long has it been since you replaced the thermostat? It's unlikely it went out at the same time, but always possible. You may also have shaken something loose or something might have dropped down one of the lines and clogged the thermostat. I think it was Charlie_V who was having issues that ended up being an acorn in his thermostat. Uncommon, but possible.

Go to Auto Zone grab a 620-112 Dorman Fan Blade for 25.00 & the D2 HD Fan Clutch and you should be good to go.

Why is Rock Auto telling me they have one that fits for 165 bucks?

Probably because they do. The guys that stick with mechanical fans like the separate pieces for the 99-02 though since you can replace just the clutch or just the fan if one fails.

I'll just go that route even though it costs a bit more.

25.00 fan blade & 55.00 fan clutch is the two piece setup vs 167-225.00 for the one piece unit.
