I have an intermittent leak where water comes through the HVAC fan area onto the floor mat. My cowl is relatively new and the drain holes at the fenders are clear (fixed previous problem). I'll check the A pilar rain gutter weld when I can. Has anyone seen leaks/seepage around the fresh air intake at the cowl? I was thinking that might need sealing of sorts.

 

And where exactly is the front sunroof drain located? I want to see if it is plugged. I gather from the above comment that I have to approach from the bottom up or can I open the front sunroof and push through a wire to clear? Has anyone used compressed air to blow the drain channels clear?

 

Have you checked the AC drain lines? They exit at the bottom of the truck through a rubber nipple which can be clogged up by road grime. Stick a small wire or skewer up there to clear them out.

BTW, I'm thinking that a bead of silicone around the fresh air intake where it bolts to the bulkhead might help. I'll need to remove the cowl to do that but my guess is that water is seeping through where the intake housing is bolted.

 

The front sunroof drains inside the a pilar/sills.
Water should exit under the car from a hole on the inside of the sill under the car.

I cleaned my drains in the summer, and did not succeed in pushing a wire from above through the drain hose.
Apparently there is ome connection or something inside the a pilar that I couldn't pass with the wire.
Can't even remember all the patents I made cleaning them but got them flowing nice.
Might have included pouring water in the hose, had them detached from the sunroof trays, and after that blowing air in the hose and cleaning the sill under the car etc.

Dishwasher liquid, hot water etc was used.

 

I'd rather not disassemble the front sunroof so I'll try to blow the drains clean with compressed air and check the drains from underneath the truck. I'll seal around the fresh air intake opening to be sure that water isn't seeping at the cowl. Its this weekend's project and I'll let everyone know what happens when I'm finished.
