Default what is that between rear propeller shaft and transfer case?

I've high lighted it here. It has some kinda tube coming from it, maybe a vent tube. I'm wanting to know how to remove it.

Thanks!

Good old bad (_!_) ebrake that locks all 4 wheels! Remove pin from ebrake handle, then you can pull the cable (wrapped in silver heat wrap) out of the cabin, then remove the rear drive shaft, then remove the screw holding the drum on with a manual impact driver, then remove the 4 bolts holding it to the transfer case.

Why would you want to remove it, especially when you didn't even know what it is?

Won't it only lock the rear wheels unless the transfer case is also locked? It's my understanding that the front and rear axles can rotate independently when the CDL is open.

That is correct. Lots of fun for drifting around in the snow if you pull the ABS relay.

Yeah I'm thinking of it with CDL locked.

Just to clarify it only locks the rear x-box output. Rear wheels don't turn because the shaft is installed. When CDL engaged the front x-box output would also be locked by the drum brake.
