Default What is this called?!?!

Just got my SECOND replacement/remanufactured Steering Gearbox via UPS. (the first one was faulty) As you can see in the pictures below, it was damaged in transit. The steel tube that runs across the top of the unit was bent/pinched to the point that I'm concerned flow will be restricted.

So ... I want to only replace the tubing, but I cannot figure out what it is called. Further, I cannot seem to find just that part without purchasing another entire gearbox.

So ... help me out, please. What's it called? And ... what do you suggest for getting just that part?

I bet if you pull the line you could just get a matching piece of straight line down at your local autoparts store with the right fittings and bend it to match

From the schematics I've looked at, it appears that tube has fittings formed/welded onto the ends. But I'll pull it to make sure.

Thank you, Annette. Now I just need to find one (or, one where I'm not paying in rubels)

Should just be flared. A regular ole brake line flare tool should do the job, along with some brake line in the same size as ArmyRover suggested.

I can still blow air through it, so its not completely pinched-off. However, with up to 1500 lb/in going through there, I'd rather the pipe was round.

Another option; you can also take that line into a hydraulic shop and they should be able to make up another line for you.

+1, that’s the way to go. It would only take about 10 minutes to make that line. There’s just nothing special about those flares, and they will reuse the tube nuts.
