What did you do with your DII today?
While driving home the other day, my power steering started to whine, and then fully went out. Really sucks in the mountains, by the way, it's very hard to turn with these large tires. And while it was loosing fluid, it would work and not work, off and on, hard to control turns...
By the time I got home, had lost most of my fluid.
Pulled the Steering pump to find the gasket was blown out. Made a new gasket, cleaned out the pump and inspected for any damage, looked good, put back together, and re-installed, re-filled. Works perfectly again! Whew, saved $400!!!

$0.50 cents worth of gasket material, and $10 in fluid.

It's Fuel and Oil safe. I was not sure about pressure safe, but it's the really firm/thin black gasket material. I've used this same stuff over the years for MANY gaskets, and never had a failure.
I wanted something that was similar thickness when compressed so I didn't change the clearances of the pump. Checked Surfaces with Straight Edge, nice and flat. Used Scissors and a paper punch. Worked perfectly. I drove it hard yesterday in the hills (Corners), and checked this morning, Still Dry!

I'll know in a few days if it's a final fix or not, but I couldn't see spending $30 on the gasket set when I only needed the one gasket. (Not to mention waiting on shipping)

Hmmm, sounds like your wife is more tolerant than mine for sure. I don't think my wife would notice if the engine stopped or the wheel fell off and she certainly wouldn't fix anything (I think 'fix' to her means a 'mainliner')..................hmmm, not a bad cook though come to think of it

I have a good wife.
She even changes her own oil.
When we redid her heads she was right there with me. She even helped me with my Chevelle interior. Headliner, carpet, recovering seats etc.
She is a good pair of hands.

She is copper coating the heads before reassembly.

Finally got around to installing the OME lift (thanks Lucky8) and the 275/65/18 BFG KOs.
I do have rubbing on the radius arm both sides at full lock. Will need to relocate the line on the driver's side that runs along the arm, and be careful not to turn at full lock and tear up the tires. No trimming needed though. Plan to hit some light trails this weekend and will report back (curious how no turn at full lock will impact trail riding...).
Oh, one other point. I actually did install the tires before the lift and drove it home fine. I wouldn't recommend to drive for long on it, but it was fine to get home and nothing got rubbed/scratched.

Cheers,
Michael

Looks good.
You should eventually flip the spare mount and get a matching spare time. If you need to put the original size tire on the car, it will cause havoc with the traction control/ABS system.
