The past week or so in my 2000 D2:

- new radiator
- new lower rad hose
- new water pump
- new 180'degree t-stat
- ultra gauge

Next up:

- upper/lower ball joints
- head gaskets inc. valve job
- oil pump repair kit
- timing chain
- tires
- power steering bleed
- trans fluid change/new filter
- change transfer case fluid
- whatever else busts between now and then....

I got a nanocom in the mail. (Yesterday)

 

Tried to install the ashcroft CDL kit without much luck, got the CDL cable engaged and working, now I can't get the hi-low cable to work, and it's a pain because of how thick the cables are.

After I was done messing with that I pressure washed the undercarriage of the truck and washed it by hand thoroughly because I'm getting it undercoated within the week.

Also removed the rear trailer hitch, wasn't using it and it was added weight/ bad for my departure angle.

 

Got the heated windshield replaced with a non-heated version. Only $275 (plus seal) versus $1200+ for a heated one. Ready to dig into the wiper motor tomorrow.

 

Got an ultraguage on the way. I'm both excited and nervous because I've never had real time temps of my engine before. But I will now have an alarm in case an overheating situation occurs.

 

Finished putting my +2" SS Brake Lines. Did 3 of them 2 weeks ago and got hung up on the passenger front line that wouldn't seperate. I destroyed the fitting trying to get it off and it finally started to leak by after driving it around for the last 2 weeks. Just cut it off and re-bent a new line from the modulator. First time doing it, it was pretty easy actually. Bought a tube cutter, flare kit, bender and 25 ft of 3/16" brake line = $43 at Autozone. Watched a youtube video on bubble flaring and practiced a few times, it took an hour and 15.

 

Looks good. What rims and tire size?

 

I replaced the old wires with some magnecor 8mm wires using the "replace wires without removing the intake manifold" and it was frustrating, but not really all that hard. I'd say I won't do it again, but come a few years down the line if I have to do it again, I might. It really only took 2 or 3 hours.

After you put it on and start using it, you'll wonder how you got along without it!

 

If I had to guess, I'd try 265/75 r16, or maybe a touch smaller.
