From what I was told, the engine that was in it slung a rod. So it probably has everything Exocet for just the engine and maybe a few small parts. The trucks is in great shape. And was told that everything is in great condition.

If it threw a rod thru the block, then you could possibly find a short block. There are usually some complete engines on Ebay, price ranges depending on mileage. Hard to say until the engine is disassembled. Just shooting in the dark until exact damage is assessed. To me, I would take it, but I am an experienced mechanic. If you have to pay someone, it could get expensive. FYI, the 4.0 and the 4.6 are basically the same engine, with different crankshaft, rods and pistons. Some have SAI(secondary air injection), which the heads are different than the non-sai. Figure out what the most you would want to or be able to spend on it, Figure a worst case scenario(complete engine replacement), and you can see what that vehicle is actually worth, and go from there.

Not just today, but the last couple of days:

Fixed some serious rot in both sunroof apertures. Water poured in every time it rained and it turned out to be rot that had been badly "repaired" with body filler. I have cut out the rot from one corner of the rear sunroof and the whole of the rear edge of the front sunroof and replaced it with METAL! Now filled and painted, it's completely watertight. The headliner etc will all go back in tomorrow

So I found out its a 2001 disco2 SE7. What kind of engines can I look at for it that are not the 4.0 that came stock?

Had my tires rebalanced and rotated. It's been driving awful and I noticed this morning all the weights were missing off my tires....pretty weird. Austin Bros. in Conway, AR did it for free so I'm pretty darn happy with it.

Finished my new custom intake. Love the sound and so far I am getting 2-3mpg more than before on routes I normally take.

Where did you get the aluminum tubes? I had a kit for my BMW that looked very similar.

As hot as these engines run, are you worried about sucking in hotter air? When you were in there, did you see an opportunity to put the intake outside of the engine compartment?

That intake is pretty awesome man! Does K&N make those filters rounded, or did you just round a "flat" one?

Super cool.
