Thanks, Robert — I went to Precision Motorworks on Elliott Ave for the first round of work; I'm taking it over to Biggs Eastside for the cold weather preps (Bruce has done several block heater installs on Discos, so I was delighted to find him!) beginning of next week.

Yes, I saw Lamorna was here, too — I called him and he kind of freaked out about the engine block heater — you folks in Washington are spoiled by all this balmy weather!

Anyway, Lamorna was pretty backed up on his schedule, too, so I wound up with Biggs ... the Disco goes in Tuesday morning as soon as the parts are all here.

If it was only as easy to find a house to rent!

I hear good things about Biggs but no first hand experience.

You'll need more luck on the housing than the moving!! Lots of housing, more demand, you will have to pay $$$ to live close in... Damn Amazonians. ;-)

We just sold our house in Green Lake to move to Woodinville wine country.
+1 on lamorna garage. Gordon has done some work on my D2 but mostly seems to play with defenders and series trucks.
My goto guy for anything Discovery or Range Rover Classic is Jahn Leonard at Rovin Rovers. He'll either work on the truck at his shop or come to you and perform whatever work you need.

Installed my roof rack ladder... Finally. My 5 year old likes it!

First time working with a threaded rivnut installer/gun. Bought a cheap one at HF and it worked perfectly. I added some rubber washers to help keep the water out. I know some just use sheet metal screws and call it a day, but I like following directions... well... most of the time.

cleaned out my noisy cabin temp fan (near steering column), reducing noise by 75% with wire pole brushes alone. Less noise = good.

Motor mounts. The passenger side went pretty easily. No drama. Not so much on the driver's side.

The steering box and lines take up a lot of room on the driver's side, making it impossible to use the 18mm ratcheting combination wrench that worked so well for the upper nut on the passenger side. I went to Lowe's and bought a flex-head ratcheting combination wrench and a stubby. The flex head didn't work. It was too long. I did all I could with the stubby but couldn't get the upper nut off. I moved it a couple of turns but that was all I could manage.

I expect I'll drop it off tomorrow at Performance Rovers in Indian Trail and let them deal with it.

Power Steering pump has been a little noisy off and on at startup. This morning I went to Home Depot and steering felt real stiff. Got home and started staining the kids swing set and the wifey had a meeting. Got a call from her right after she left and said there was fluid running down the driveway from my Disco. Sure nuff, the reservoir was empty and fluid everywhere. Got online and found Advance Auto had 1 in stock at a nearby store, so I ordered it, 219.00. Added the TRT30 discount code and got 50.00 off. Picked it up and took a quick look at the job in front of me. Started the stop watch and began. Off with the air tube, then released tension from the serpentine and off with the belt. Removed the pressure hose, then the pulley and the idler. then the a/c pump and set it to the side. Removed the bracket bolts that holds the a/c and ps pump. Pulled the bracket forward until it touched the shroud and lowered the ps pump from below. Removed the feed hose from the tank to the pump and attached the feed hose to the new pump. installed the pump into the bracket and pushed bracket back in place. Tightened bracket up and put back a/c, idler and ps pulley. installed the high pressure hose, released tension from belt tensioner and installed the belt. Put intake hose back on and filled the reservoir with fluid. Started up and checked for leaks.
stopped the stopwatch at 37 minutes. Now to return the core for 50.00 refund. I was contemplating taking tomorrow off to do this and I am glad I went for it today. Still had time to spend with my little daughters.

Most impressive. Took me 3 hours, but it was my first "major" job on a vehicle (major to me, at least).
