Removed the drivers side door panel and the outside door handle to get to the broken pin that plagues the disco2. I got the pin out and put the door back together while I figure out what I want to do. Deciding whether to attempt to make one from a nail, buy one from MiamiBritish for 29.00 or get the one from Falconwerks for 85.00. I am leaning towards making my own, but using stainless rod instead of nail, and trying to duplicate the Falconwerks one. Cant hurt to try anyway.
update on door lock pin.
I went to Home Depot and purchased 2 40d nails at .15 each, bought a new 7/64 drill bit and a new set of dremel cutting tool set(did not need, had plenty). measured where the hole should be, drilled it with a hand drill(PITA, but managed). used the dremel to shape the cross at the end. Pulled the door handle, secured the pin, and reinstalled.Works like a champ. I would have loved to have the falconwerks pin, but 3.00 instead of 85.00 was a no-brainer.
Now to get the passenger doors lock actuators replaced and no more climbing across the seats to lock or unlock.
Funny, when you finally tackle a project and it goes so smooth, you wonder why you did not do it sooner. Oh Well, onward thru the fog.
+ the original lasted 15 or so years, stainless would out last the truck
I looked at stainless options but I think the nail will last along time, since I never use the key for entry or locking anyway. I just like everything to work.
While I had the door panel off, I sprayed the regulator rollers with a dry lubricant, and boy did it smooth out the window(the rollers were in great shape, but the track was a little rusty in places). It was squeeking and jerky at times. Now quiet and smooth. i will definitely do the same for the other rollers when I do the lock actuators.
Finally found the time and good weather to do "option B"; solution for the ABS Fault. Worked like a charm! I'd suggest two people, Dad came over to lend a helping hand and it was a big help, having someone there to hold the ABS modulator up out of the way.. easy fix!

Feels great, doesn't it? It was my first Disco repair and when I fired things up and they were fixed, I was gobsmacked.
Did the first repair yesterday with my buddy. Had to replace the crank position sensor. We put the truck up on ramps and dropped the exhaust for access. When we got the sensor out, we were VERY angered to realize that the previous owner/his mechanic had replaced the sensor already. The reason it wasn't working is because instead of reaching up and unhooking the sensor from the harness, and simply yanked it out, ripping the wires on the car side of the harness. We then had to take out the intake, intake manifold, and coils to require the harness. Went from an hour and a half fix to a 7 hour fix. Next up is the O2 sensors.
