Default Update

Over the last two weeks.

Oil Pressure Gauge install.

Bought a used 2004 transfer case, on its way from California. Has the cables but no shifter. May just swap front housings and switches. CDL here we come! My 03 only has 93,000 miles on it.

Re attached the original spotlights to the front bumper and changed out the relay so they come on with high beam, previously not working.

Did the ABS shuttle valve wiring mode, working good, no lights no faults.

Just bought 16inch steel wheels (5) and BFG K02 265/75 R16 tires.

Was going to change the 18's but felt the need to go to 16's for off road!

Getting sick of having to buy from outside of Canada and paying duties, exchange rates, extra shipping and taxes on top. Man, Buffalo, NY is about 80 miles from my doorstep. Yuk. Even found a cheaper thermostat from the UK! than purchasing it in Canada.

Hmm sounds like a business idea? lol.

Oh and looks and feels like I have a big oil leak from the Valley Pan. No coolant. Just oil.

I love the way the Disco drives though, just rolls along. Actually dying to get this thing off road.

The calm before the storm...

I also hit a milestone and made it to 14.06MPG with 326 miles on a tank of petrol on my 2001 Disco.
You should make a different post with your projects so we can keep up with all your setup bro. It get lost on this thread already. Too many post to read and missed your hacks and mods just to be more specific. Too confusing were to find them. Just a suggestion.

Took Emma out on a 320 km trip yesterday to my friends' baseball tourney. She performed flawlessly! I was impressed with my fuel mileage too. I only used about 1/2 a tank. Theoretically, that would be over 600 km on a tank! That's not bad for an old D2 with 300000 km on it.

Now off to fix the leaky front sunroof. (Going to seal it)

Fwiw, I recently sealed mine with Flex Tape as a temporary fix. However, this tape is like strips of concrete. It did the job and zero water can enter where the sunroofs are. Im not worried about the paint as I will eventually have it painted professionally.

I did that too, I just want something that looks better. I have tons of silicone, but I have to strip that tape off first

So after protecting the sunroofs, I started thinking "Why not protect all of the glass"?!

So now I've got the ballistics film all around the Disco. Windows still go up and down. Sunroofs open and close properly.

I don't know...maybe I got carried away?!

Harmless, I guess. I didn't do the front windshield, though. Concerned it might affect visibility.

Did you do front windshield also? How does this affect vision, any distortions? Have any photos you could share. I like this idea for the pass and driver side windows.

That is basically clear window tint.
The clear or tinted film will help a side window from falling apart when impacted(even though the plastic layer of safety glass will hold pieces together to some extent).
Given the thickness and strength of the windshield, compared to the other windows, either film is not needed on the windshield.
Clear film shows scratches easier too.
No benefit to put in on the windshield.
