My MPG jumped up a bit, just finished a 400 mile trip,.. Right before the trip during my routine check I was poking around under the hood and noticed the plastic fitting which is hooked to the back hose on the passenger side of the throttle body was loosely sitting in the hole, not even finger tight. I was able to tighten it up with between 1/2 and one turn of the plastic fitting. This is the hose that goes to the valve cover/oil separator. See picture lifted from other thread...
I ask on the other thread but got no answers. What is the consequence of this being loose? I think the engine runs smoother and quieter, seems to have quieted the last tick I had which only happened until it was up to temperature then it went away. Is that possible? Would it have been letting in un-metered air or would it have been a vacuum leak?
I don't think its my overly optimistic imagination... Thanks!
Not the hose with the red fitting, the one left of it toward the firewall.
Loose would cause a vacuum leak.
And can cause several gremlins to show up.
I bought a really nice Dremel #2000-01 butane soldering pen kit.
I was getting tired lugging my Aoyue soldering station and a 50 foot extension power cord to do simple soldering of wire bundles in Myrtle.
Put some 265x75x16's on with some used 16" wheels today.
I had 18's with 275x65x18 Goodyear DuraTracs.
I can't decide if I like the 16's better or not, both are almost exactly same size at about 32".
More meat is always better for off road, but less meat is better on the highway. I like the way 265’s ride on 16inch rims, and the 275/65R18’s seem good as well. I can’t truly judge them as the D2 with 18’s has ACE.
Flares are coming off, especially since I've decided on keeping the 16's.
I might do a little bedliner around the arches about an inch for rock chips, etc.
The 18's are for sale if anyone is interested, and a brand new set of Treadwright 275x65x18's available too.
