ya i guess i dont think its intended for long underwater use, i always wondered when i see trucks fully submerged like over the hood how water doesnt get in places like the mass sensor throttle body, vaccum lines etc so many places that dont look water tight

biggest advantage of a snorkel is dust mitigation.

I am not intending to stay underwater long. When I get into deep splashing water accidentally, I have a better chance to get out with a snorkel. I want to get out as quickly as possible. Intake and vacuum should be tight, at least the smoke test doesn't show leaks on mine. I would be more concerned about the electrical wiring.

Default Deepish water

@Discorama @redwhitekat it is all about speed and bow wave see @acg last year going through. Notice the water height difference from the nose to front door. The engine compartment does not go that "deep"

True that. I had my '86 Dodge across a river with water splashing over the hood, and an open air filter on top of the carb.

@redwhitekat no but it illustrates the basic idea, to deep and our fans tend to hit water that does not always end well
