Decided to not go to Moab this week for the rally, still way to hot for my taste to hang out in the desert. No amount of cool trucks is going to change that haha. Plus I can't risk either disco as they are on daily duties this fall/winter and the classic I just haven't driven enough to say its good for a 6-7hr drive. Plus it needs new tires. Instead I'll be swapping in the 1.4 t-case into the white disco starting tomorrow night and hopefully digging into the rear diff to see what's wrong with my air locker. Side note, don't pay a non rover shop (even if it has a good reputation) to install lockers or gears into your rover. Been having issues ever since it was installed and I'm finally going to pull it apart and dig into it myself. I need to start a build thread for the white disco as well as the RRC. I've found some horrific cut jobs beneath the TJ flares on the RRC which has prompted the procurement of new/used fenders and I'll pick up rear doors next week from Roadside Werx. Classic is going to be looking mighty fresh with a full new paint job essentially in the coming months. Just wish it wasn't an anniversary edition sometimes bc I really don't care for the Aspen Silver color, hopefully a fresh paint job will change my mind a little bit.
Bought an '04 Disco 2 about a week ago. Air box top broken, leaking valve cover gaskets, CEL on for O2s code, lots of lil things wrong, nothing I can't handle though.
Went to replace the air box lid, coolant overflow pipe snaps when I bumped it...learned how to replace with 5/16" heater hose...Thanks guys!
Went to replace the O2s today, found the drivers side connector broken, learned about Honda O2s extensions from y'all, again, Thanks guys!
Noticed my radiator cooling fan wasn't very tight after running and engine hot, and saw it's blades are cracked and missing lil chunks on some of the edges, learned that D1 and D2 clutch fans are the same, and what cheaper more heavy duty options are available...and again, y'all rock, Thanks guys!!!
Air Intake tube (last one was filled with oil somehow, but not cracked or damaged)
Ignition Coils
Spark Plug Wires
Front Main Seal
Serpentine Belt
Front 02 Sensors
I've had an 02 sensor fault all year so hopefully it clears up so I can pass emissions haha
Next week I plan to buy and mount the Terrafirma Hidden Winch Mount in my stock front bumper, and will probably go with the Harbor Freight ZXR 12,000 lb winch. I don't do crazy offroading, but it will put my mind at ease to have.
Was able to take of work a little early so I swung by the stop to install my new-to-me ARB/winch setup. Still have to wire up the winch and lights and do some more alignment of the bumper then drill the 3rd bolt hole through the crash structure but I didn't have enough time yesterday. Will probably tackle those things over the weekend if my sliders arrive.
I cannot get over how good that ARB looks. I've got to own one or copy one one day.
Hauled some precious cargo home from the hospital yesterday. Wife got to pick the outfit she came home in, I got to pick the ride. Obviously got to start them young! And true to form, came out to get the Disco ready to haul the little girl home and the battery had died overnight....
Little Maple will be wheeling and turning wrenches before we know it.
Congrats Alex! If you swing through CO one day I'll sell you my ARB...Trimmed the wheel well area some already so you'll have no issues on the 33s you run.
