88k mile 04 LT230 just arrived from Will Tillery. Gonna clean it up and reseal a few key spots this winter and probably install in March or so. Couldn’t pass up the low mileage and condition of this unit, so had to go ahead and pick it up.
once I have the CDL in and a winch/bumper, I’ll be pretty confident to hit the types of trails I used to back in my old 04 (north Georgia, Beasley ****, maybe URE, etc)

Used the 04 to go to my mom and dad's to put out their garbage, stopped on the way home and bought some Sky vodka and crannyberry juice and drank my dinner. Prefect use for the 04, been working 12/13 hours a day for the last four/five weeks, with no end in sight...and getting about four hours sleep...this should help...l'll report on my finding in the morning. 04...perfect grocery getter...lol
Got the positive test result on a Covid test yesterday. Brought the Disco back over from my folks house today; hopefully I'll be well enough to work on it while I'm quarantined. Intending to build the snorkel and see if I can figure out why the CDL isn't engaging.
Yesterday I went for a beer run, I turned on my main beams due to the rain and 3 bongs sounded with no fault lights on the instrument panel. Strange I thought.
Came out of the grocery store and I had a dead battery. Fob didn’t work, used the key, got in the driver’s door turned on ignition and nothing electrical worked. Looked at my USB charger in the cigar lighter that has a voltmeter on it and it read 6.3V which = battery voltage. Weird.
Busted out the NOCO jump pack, connected to the battery and still no start at 6.3V showing on the USB charger. wth?!
Knowing the NOCO was fully charged, I left the NOCO positive clamp connected to the battery and attached the NOCO negative cable to different negative connections working my way away from the battery. I got to my battery shut off switch, attached the NOCO negative clamp to the opposite side of switch, my wife yelled out from the driver’s seat “You have power now!”and she started up the Disco.
The issue was the battery disconnect switch internally malfunctioned. Even with the plastic red ‘key’ in it, it didn’t make contact internally to allow enough negative potential through it.
Got home swapped it out for a another switch I already had. Starts up great now!
Cheers!
Got the snorkel about 90% done today. Need to find my step bit to enlarge the outside holes for the screws to go through, need some 1/4-20 bolts for the mounting, and need to recover the snorkel head from my folks house.
Swapped out the springs and front shocks on the green disco last night for 2" britpart springs (thought I got a deal on some OME but realized the color was off when I got home....oh well risks of used part buying and crappy sellers) and put some OME shocks in the front. Wife wanted the truck a hair lower (the big blues that were meant for a classic was almost 4" of lift) and the ride was all sorts of harsh with the fox shocks and no added weight (truck has no armor or bumpers). I drove the truck to work today (roundtrip 110 miles) and it is considerably smoother and the ride height is a little more appropriate. The 2 fox shocks I pulled from the front and the big blues will go on the classic when I get around to it.
