What is this 'mod'?
Thanks for the reply.
How is this activated? I seem to be forcing it, to no avail? Under the liner, there is a cut that allows it to move to the left (about a cm), and then upwards/downwards (about a cm).

CAUTION: Need to be sure not to engage the CDL on pavement driving. It is only for dirt or snow, otherwise could cause drive train damage.
CDL is engaged while in slow motion (less than around 5 mph) so the gears can line up. Think of it as the fun lever for off road! Might also be able to shift to lower gear range.

There's a writeup over on DiscoWeb about how to fabricate a lever like this to operate the CDL on the "99 - '02 trucks that shipped with transfer cases that had the CDL feature but no shifter to enable it. There's nothing wrong with the method, although the wiper arm lever isn't as attractive as other examples.
