Default What are these wires??

2004 Discovery 2 SE7

This is my second run at Disco 2. Had one back in '07 and always wanted to go again.

Doing an interior deep clean and preventative maintainance. Took headliner down. Sunroof drain connections look ok but probably going to cut them and replace with brass fittings and replace plastic corner cup silicone unless anyone feels differently. Also checking and probably fully replacing sunroof glass/body seals.

Noticed unconnected wires over drivers side door and another wire plug covered in foam in drivers side rear. Anyone know what they are for?

Also, any other wires I should run while I'm here? I was thinking rear camera wire just in case but not sure where it should be run to?

Thanks
David

Connectors for the volumetric alarm sensors if fitted. Otherwise unused.

DD wire is for interior glass break sensor, others are for other accessories your truck does not have. Put a set of drain fittings in the rear of the pans so it will drain even if parked uphill, tie all drain fittings together on each side so it will drain no matter orientation. Dis-assemble sunroof motors and grease the rotors to prevent them siezing due to rust. Seal the sunshade penetrations in the pan with silicone. I like to paint the top of the headliner board with low odor stainblocking Kilz to prevent water stains if any does get in.

Thanks for reply!

Can I add the sensor while I have the headliner down? What accessory is the rear wire for? Can I add it now?

David

Don't bother.

The volumetric/glass break sensors are a PITA.

My truck (and all'99s) have them. I disabled them first chance I had.

If I left the sunroof open for ventilation and locked the truck, a puff of wind set off the alarm.

Rear one is probably for the DVD player or something.
Just because the wires are there doesn't mean the thing is worth bothering with,

New to the vintage Rover game. You have a grease and silicone brands/types you prefer when doing these preventative maintenance items?

Thanks.
