Hi, I have fitted an Engine Watchdog gauge which measures the temperature of the block or head rather than the coolant. As you would know, one of the weaknesses of measuring the coolant is that if it rapidly departs, the engine can seize before the normal gauge reacts..I've removed the standard D2 pull out cup holder and fitted it along there. You could fit another for the transmission as well if thought necessary. They are an Australian product but our dollar is in the gutter so cost should not be great. Hope this helps...

I fitted the Ozzie "engine guard" for the same reason.

Once the temp sensor isn't covered in coolant, it's a waste of time. Mine is bolted to the top of the engine, directly measuring the head temperature. And set to alarm if it gets too hot too.The secondary sensor is attached to the "cold" side of the radiator to show whether there is additional cooling capacity in the radiator.
