I have a transmission guard which I removed today trying to find a rattle. I found the retaining ring in the first picture resting on the guard below the area of the transmission shown in the second picture. I looked but didn't see where it came from. Anybody have any ideas?

 

There is a clip that holds the transmission cable to the bracket. It is usually shaped a little different. It could be from one of Transfer Case cables (there are two if you have CDL).

 

Any other ideas? I looked again but don't see where it goes. I've been keeping it in the glove compartment in case I need it!

 

I was just going to say that it goes in the glove compartment!

 

Usually put parts like that...somewhere...where l'll never be able to find them...when l do finally figure out where they belongs...lol.
