The 0420 is a bad catalytic converter. More than likely you plugged up the cats while driving around with the misfire codes for an extended period of time. Sorry to say this but you need to bust out the wallet and pull out some more cash. You can either buy the whole new y-pipe or you can try and but just a new cat and have a muffler shop cut the old one off and weld a new one on.

I just installed a new Magnaflow Cat and it ran me $500, but I could change it out myself. Davco makes one for around $360. If you want to have just a cat welded on it should cost less, but you probably want a pro to do the work.

The scrap yard was going to give me $80 for my used Y-pipe but I thought it was worth a little more so I passed on it, but you can get a little money back.
Is the CAT-thing something I must do right away, how should I go about it? ...as per the ABS repair in the sticky, that link isn't working anymore, but will read through the whole post and see what's about.

Thanks.

You can wait on replacing the Cats if you want. The only real effect would be a loss in MPG, performance, and you can no longer claim you care about the planet as you will pumping out pollution similar to a coal plant.

Here is a Davico catalytic converter for $338. http://www.carparts.com/details/Land...FSdp7AodO2IADQ

If you want to just buy the cats and have them welded on then you can google search "Discovery 2 catalytic converter" and you will see all kinds of options out there.
I would get a price quote from the muffler shop before you decide which way to go. It might be cheaper to just buy a ready to install system after they add labor to the bill.

Thanks Jared9220, I guess I'll start putting some money aside for that then, instead of jumping right into it.

I guess that in time more codes related to it will arise, in fact yesterday a couple more "recently cleared" ones refloated (P1300, P0303 & P0305). I cleared them and will wait for the MIL light to come on again and take them more seriously since I haven't felt any differences after the sparks and wires job. A new one also came on, but as a "pending code" (P0132).

As per your suggestion to look at the "sticky" ABS post, the main link to the solution takes you nowhere, I will read further into the comments in it to see what I else I can find.

Thanks for your recommendations and feedback.
