Default Why do my sunroof switches look wrong?

Talking with another forum member about buying his sunroof switches so I started Googling around for a fair price. What I started to realize is my switches do not look like any of the parts I'm finding online. Matter of fact, I can't find any that look like mine. Are these normal or is something super weird going on here? There are butt connectors crimped onto some wires behind that panel so I know this has been tampered with. Not sure if it's because they just swapped out switches for some random crap they had lying around that kind of fit?

Oooh crap.

Identify Your Sunroof - Webasto Hollandia - SunroofCheck.com

Looks like the previous owner found some random kit and replaced the switches and wiring. Yeehaw.

If you have a sliding hard cover you could have the aftermarket sunroofs installed. They had different non OEM buttons.

Oh, a cover on the inside of the sun roof? I sure do. What more can you tell me about these aftermarket sunroofs? I had no idea this was a thing man, that also answers why I haven't been able to find replacement handles for the sliding covers.

I just remember them being installed on S/SD models back in the day. From what I remember people had a lot less issues with them vs the OEM sunroofs.

Well, hot dog! I bet that explains why I don't have any leaky sunroof issues. Was it just random aftermarket or was it like a dealer installed option? Trying to research this online gives up nothing. Kind of scares me as I may need parts in the future. I should tear into it and see if I can find brands or model numbers.

This just got a lot more interesting though. I am going to buy the OEM wiring harnesses and switches and see if I can return the buttons to stock.

Thanks for the info!

Actually, lot of good info about it here in the forums searching for the right phrase. "My sunroof DOESN'T leak" etc. Sounds like it was a dealer option. Now to dig and find out if I can get parts, a new handle would be great.
