I'm new to the forum but have been reading a lot of threads to help with maintenance, etc.
So my current issue... I had a pretty bad oil leak that I couldn't track down so I decided to replace most of the gaskets on the engine (Discovery 2 4.0 2001). Once I got everything back together, it will crank but won't start. It also is throwing me the blinking "M and S" lights. From previous threads, i'm sure it is just a low battery (it isn't lasting very long on a charge anymore either). When I talked to the tech at land rover, he said that it wouldn't effect starting. I also don't have the security light on so I don't think that the system is immobilized..
Here is everything that I replaced:
Valve Cover Gasket
Sump/Oil Pan Gasket
Front cover/Timing Chain gasket
Water Pump Gasket
Throttle Body Gasket
Spark Plugs- Bosch 8100
Motor Oil- 15w40 Diesel Oil (New to the motor. Previously 10w40 SAE)
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance and I'm excited to be on here! Here is a picture of Daryld

I'm thinking it might be a CPS that is dirty or not installed properly. I'll go pull it and check. Still open to ideas or suggestions. SIDE NOTE: I reset the inertia sensor and still not doing anything.
I think the fuel cut-off switch it also known as the inertia switch. It's mounted on the firewall on the right-hand side (passenger side on North American vehicles). Just press the button on top.
You might be right with the CPS. Somehow in my experience, my truck won't start again only when it gets hot but after cooling it down it starts again. Yours might have completely died. Check if you have spark. listen if your fuel pump make noise when you turn the ignition halfway. But you need to be in the back right in the middle of the carpet floor to hear it few seconds and have someone turn switch. Some pumps are a bit quiet. And lastly, compression. Some of those test require basic spark and compression tools.
