Sure you can remove the parts, but what about the programming of the ECU, you can not change that. Also, if you live in most of the emission regulated states, legally you must reinstall that system before it can be regestered in your state.
Bottom line it does not effect your performance and requires little or no maintance.
Mike, I respect and agree with most of the things you post, but sometimes I'm not sure why you get your panties in a wad over mostly trivial things. I think you need to learn that sometimes it's fun to do things just for the hell of it to see if it works.
