Oil Change

Default Oil Change

I just bought a 1991 range rover and the oil need replacing. Do i have to take in to get it done or can i just do it my self like in most vehicles?

Rotella 15W40 is a very good oil to use. Change early and often.

You can download factory manuals called the RAVE at link below.

There will be lots of other things that need greasing or oil changed (differntials, transfer case, transmission, CVs, Wheel Bearings, etc.)

Yes. Here are some pages from the shop manual, note that there are other things to drain and refill, but plan on doing them very soon, just oil change and underside inspection first. Factory drain interval was 7500 miles, but most owners go for 3000 - 5000 instead.

What you need to be more concerned about do is a major service, before you do any major wheeling. Look at the sticky at the top of the D1 section for major services and plan on doing them all or that new to you, old truck is going to have issues.
