Coolant in oil sump or Leftover degreaser from cleaning it last week??? pictures inc.
So last week I dropped the sump to replace the gasket. I cleaned the **** out of the oil pan using degreaser. I was extra particular about making sure I got the degreaser all out and dry before I reinstalled the sump. Turns out parts geek sent me an obviously used and stretched gasket that was in worse shape than the one that came off with the sump. So I put the old gasket back on with the sump and dealt with the oil leak to get me to work and back until the actual new one came.(Today) Just dropped the sump and found this, oil and this whatever substance(socket extension pointed at it) seemed to be completely seperated not mixed at all (The oil appeared to be translucent and normal as I was draining it) Im curious could this be a result of not getting all of the degreaser out of all the nooks and crannys of the sump or is someone out there 100 percent this is a small head gasket leak?? Also Ive never dealt with head gasket issues before, Do they tend to just blow out at once with indisputable evidence or does the issue start small and gradually get worse?
