Default Another Freelander Coolant Loss Question

I've done a search, but haven't come across anything that answers the question I have with a friend's 04 Freelander that I'm working on.

60,000 miles, overall excellent condition. Uses about one quart of coolant every 1000 miles. No coolant in oil, no oil in coolant, no liner noise, compression on all cylinders between 160 and 180 psi. There are no visible leaks, and no white smoke or sweet smell in the exhaust. Thermostat is OK, and is not leaking into valley between cylinders.

I read somewhere that it is possible for the intake manifold gasket to allow coolant into the combustion chamber, but only during certain conditions. Has anyone had a similar problem or situation?

cap and tank does it alot. but look at the heater core under the dashboard. if you see coolant on the fan sticker its bad.

when in doubt add coolant dye.

Thanks for the tip. I've ordered a tank and cap, thinking it may be the culprit since the motor has been set up to run so warm and any loss of pressure from the cap might cause it to boil away.
