Question Finding a wild electrical short

2006 Freelander TD4 - Been running fine last couple years, no issues whatsoever. Last week she bogged down a couple times during acceleration, and the check engine light flashed briefly, then cleared, power returned, and all was well. Planned to stop by a shop this week and have the codes pulled, but never got the chance.

Sunday, out of the blue, while at the grociery store she failed to start. Checked for loose wires, blown fuses, could find any issues. Had a friend help me tow her to the house. Next afternoon had a mechanic friend over, she started up, ran for a bit, but when I turned her off she woulddnt start again. We disconnected battery to reset the Computer, but no luck. But then I also noticed that every time we reconnected the battery, the A/C fans would come on, the rear window would power down, and the radio came on, even though I turned it off... twice.

We left the batt disconnected overnight, I reconnected this morning, no start, rear window powered down, radio turned on, A/C vent motors running.

Obviously I have an electrical gremlin. Any ideas on where to start looking? I have a meter, tools and some electrical skills... could use some guidance.

Rear window going down is normal after battery re-install. I would pull the fuel pump relay, and check for a broken wire. I have had a similar issue on a KV6 petrol unit here in the USA. Hope this helps!
