Default Freelander SE 2002 possible trans/gearbox/clutch issues

Just bought a 2002 LR Freelander SE. It has @ 134,000 miles (here in U.S).
Runs GREAT and I love it.
The history/records I have from previous owner are probably not complete history of the car's maintenance records.
But what I do have.
New:
Head Gasket Kit
Head Bolt set
Coolant (changed)
Oil (changed)
Oil Fliter
Oil cooler and radiator hoses
Vacuum lines and connectors.
So that''s all I know as far as history of the motor.

Motor sounds and runs great.
I will fill in details tomorrow when I have paperwork.

The problem: Seems as though after a "freeway 50mph extended run" whereas the motor/trans get's some heat/usage.
When coming to stop. The drive-train feels as the though it's come out of gear while stopped. As though if one were to put the car in neutral.
Then when starting to accelerate, it will grab abruptly at @800-1000 rpm (maybe incorrect rev's #'s). Will run fine until next stop/slowdown. And starting up again it will "grab" and slide into gear.
Worst case it will feel as though car has been bumped from rear and tires skreach. So, it feels like the car is in neutral then slams in to gear when accelerating trottle.
So, only after running it a bit. Not while just around town.

I've read @ solenoid issues in gearbox? Fluids are fine, I believe.
Suggestions? Possible relating to other fuel issues mentioned below?

Meanwhile, the other issue (possibly related?)
I've just replaced the MAF sensor after getting codes P1160.
The replacement is new ($32.00 bought on ebay).
I had left the code active then replaced the sensor, but code didn't clear. So, MAF sensor may not be problem...maybe. Still only @ 30 miles on since changing MAF.

So, I've now cleared the codes "P1160" gotten from my scanner, and am hoping it won't come back. I'll put some miles on and get back.
But, re: the P1160 code. I don't want to just start replacing parts if code comes back as I can't seem to find which device to troubleshoot based on that code?
What exactly is an P1160 code error?
Can you suggest a method to troubleshoot the problem? O2 sensor?

Thanks very much,
Tim

P1160 "post catalyst oxygen sensor heater bank 2 ..implausible signal / condition"
( per Innova)
thats the after cat o2 sensor .....
not likely that the maf is the issue there anyway., and fwiw....I've not had very good luck with the generic mafs available for these....get an original Siemans ...they arent that much more $$and will work better anyway, meanwhile get some maf cleaner and clean your original one ( cold engine)

the the transmission is a Jatco 506 and it's supposed to use a specific fluid....get it from rover for $22 a quart, I found some on ebay for about $14 a quart....takes 4.25 quarts for a drain and refill, easy job and peace of mind( to start with anyway...lol)
and yes there are 9 !! solenoids in that trans.....download the RAVE service manual for a freelander that a good place to start, as well as a few you-tube videos of testing the solenoids at the wiring harness as well as the ecu connections for corrosion.

hope some of this helps, new spark plugs and wires (coils) would be a good idea too

I forgot to add that some of the "jerking " feeling you get can also be caused by worn out rear diff mounts.....there are 3 of them ...a metal bracket with a rubber mount...these (usually the front one) wear bad enough so tht there is a pronounced jerk or clunk as the transmission shifts ....good news > they are fairly cheap
