Vibration Issues
I have a manual 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 with a mileage of just over 103,000 and a full Landrover service history. Recently it has developed a vibration issue in 4th, 5th and 6th gear when the engine is put under load. In 4th gear the vibration occurs in the range 1,700-1,900 RPM, in 5th gear between 1,650 and 1,850 RPM and in 6th gear between 1,600 and 1,800 RPM. When in these gears and rev range, depending on the load being placed on the engine, the vibration can be mild through to severe. A couple of months ago I had a new clutch and flywheel fitted however the vibration issue only started a week or two later. At the same time, during a cold/icy spell, I used the all-terrain selector in Ice/snow mode, something I’ve not touched for 2-3 years. I don’t know if either of these things relate to the vibration, or just co-incidence and its something else entirely. The car was returned to the Landrover specialists who fitted the new clutch and after a thorough visual inspection, they could find nothing untoward, but acknowledged the vibration issue existed, but had no explanation for it. The engine runs well, the clutch operation is smooth and the car has never given me any particular concerns. Has anyone experienced anything similar or does anyone have any theories on the cause ?
