not to freak you out but if a p38 overheats it could drop a cylinder sleeve, then it would need an engine, rovers in general leak coolant and oil...l332 are known to leak at the radiators and coolant hoses, this motor is a little more robust,I've only replaced a few of these, the motors and appearance of the car may look great...but you don't know how it was treated for the first 50k miles,a motor job for a p38 is around 12k and a l332 is about 15k
Ok, thanks for the info. It looks like I'll be looking at late model Ford Expeditions instead. The whole motor-overheat things really scares me. LOL
I will say 2 things. One, my mom has an '04 Expedition Eddie Bauer with every available option and I honestly feel like it's such a downgrade from my '02 Range. Ever since I've had my Range Rover I no longer enjoy driving her vehicle because it seems so "American" She's got more options than me, i.e. DVD player, cooled/heated seats, parktronic, power folding 3rd row seats, but I love my Range Rover and the Ford just doesn't compare in my opinion.

On the other hand if you do get an Expedition try to get an '05 because you get the interior upgrade, the 300 hp engine opposed to the 260 hp 5.4, and a few other additions as well. I really don't think you have to worry about the overheating thing, this is the first I've ever heard of that, but if you are worried about it it's very understandable. Good luck with your decision!
