are the heads interchangable for these engines
what other heads will bolt on to my 3.9 with no hassles
i can get a set with 70,000 on them for 400 is that a good price?

Default heads

am i correct in assuming that the 94-95 discovery 3.9 parts will fit on the 89 3.9 range rover

when i am told the vin is "2" this is the engine code correct?
are all the vin"2" parts interchangable

Some parts will interchange, what exactly are you trying to swap? I am assuming you are meaning the keads by the post above. You can get your current heads completely rebuilt for $600 just about anywhere, a couple hundred of dollars for like new is better than those 70,000 mile ones.

If you look locally you can find a god deal on the whole engine with decent mileage. There is one locally here that is for $750 with all the accessories with 110K on it. I think a swap is easier then heads anyways in my opinion.

Default swaping engine

just bought a 95 discovery 3.9 for 425, so the engine swap is coming now, not the heads, then maybe rebuild the original engine over the winter,
