Default Swivel *****

because its friday and most Disco owner have more than one LR, I am going to throw this post up here. feel free to delete it.

Does any have experience with swivel *****? The reason I ask my RRC has a knock in the left front almost sounds like a broken shock.

The shock looks fine but I can see that the left swivel ball is leaking, the right is damp but the left is leaking. I guess my question is will a swivel ball make a knocking noise?

I have to replace the steering flex coupling this weekend, it must be ripped or mush I can feel the play in the shaft and there is some noise associated with that but this noise is deeper.

Disco II's don't have swivel *****, as I'm sure you're aware, so probably it's better to post this in the RR section, or more appropriately, in the general section since a lot of Land Rover models have swivel *****.

To answer your question, no, they won't make any noise unless the axle u-joint is so broken that it's hitting the inside. However, a u-joint can make a clicking noise when approaching failure (very common with CV's). If all the lube has leaked out then the u-joint is going to fail before long.

How is the shock tower? It's pretty common for those to rust away. I've seen them completely detach and start knocking around.
