i had a plug out when i was tring to crank it and it had no spark and the plug was dry

 

what is a cps?

 

A CPS is a crank positioning sensor, it tells the computer where the crank and flywheel is at so it knows which spark plug to fire. It is on the drivers side at the bottom back of the block and has a small lin that picks up the count from a tone ring located in the flywheel. I think it only has 2 10mm bolts holding it to the block and takes about 10 minutes to replace.

If you pulled a plug and cranked it hopefully you were grounding it to a good ground so you could see the spark. The best way is with a spark tester but grounding it on the block works just as well.

I am willing to bet the truck has a suspension issue and that is why it ended up at auction. I think the BECM is probably fine but I could be wrong, I would start with the others areas first since they are so much cheaper to get.

 

i have a spark plug hith 3 feet of wire soldered to it so i can ground it at the battery and put it somewnere i can see it, no spark, i wish my damn scanners would communicate with it

 

Look at the CPS then, if it is bad its not telling the coils to spark at all and then of course you will not be able to get it to run. I bet that is your problem.

 

I understand that you all are trying to help. That is great. But the first issue i see as i'm a certified mechanic. 3 Years of sitting!!!! That is not good for a Rover engine PERIOD!! you could get it started and i would more than bet that every gasket in the engine would blow or leak horribly. That's 3 grand or more right there in yanking the engine and doing a rebuild. Let alone the electrical trouble. Unless your getting a sweet deal and have the time and extra cash laying around. GO find something else.
