Vapor Line Plastic Connectors

Attached are pictures of the two ends of a vapor recovery manifold found near the gas tank of eary 1990's Range Rovers and NAS 110's. Anyone know how to diconnect them?

there is a tool that is basically two prongs about half an inch apart then slide into the fitting and then push it apart.
