Default 1996 D1 4.0 V8 no spark

Hello! New to Land Rovers (after always wanting one) and new to this forum. I’m After some advice. I’m in the Yukon, Canada, and have a 96 D1 4.0 v8. it has sat for over 6yrs and I recently purchased it. It won’t start, as I don’t seem to be getting spark. I have replaced the Crank position sensor, Mass Airflow Sensor, fuel pump, starter, and coil packs. Engine cranks, but doesn’t seem to be getting spark. I purchased an immobilizer plug for the spider unit, only to find when I pulled the dash out, there is no plug behind the heater controls. Oil light goes away while cranking so I’m sure the oil pump is primed... I’m a weekend warrior, looking for any advice you might have. I’m waiting on a friend to lend me their OBD 2 computer to see what codes may be stored in there.
Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

Welcome to the forum.
First things first, it is best to post about your truck in the D1 section of the forum. You will get better/more responses.
Second, get yourself a wireless dongle for the OBD. There are inexpensive apps for your smart phone that can do nearly everything a OBDII reader can do. They are cheap and effective. Find out more here:

Third, download the relevant workshop manuals from the google drive linked in my signature.

Finally, do you have the remote key fob or are you using the physical key in the lock?
