Default 1997 Land Rover wont go into gear

1997 Land Rover starts, I can shift it in gear, but the car will not go anywhere. A few days ago it had the BECM lockout. Unhooked car battery, changed battery in remote. Now it will start but not go anywhere. Any ideas on what is wrong?

A 1997 Land Rover Discovery won't have a BECM. A Range Rover is another matter. On the Discovery, there is a second shift level for the CDL, if slipped into N it will just roll.

What Buzz said. Your CDL lever (the smaller lever at the front of the console) should be all the way back and to the right for normal driving. They tend to get stiff from under-use, so don't be afraid to put some oomph behind it if she doesn't want to move.
Is it an automatic? Next thing to check is tranny fluid level.
