How do I open the rear door when the opening mechanism has failed?

(this is the door on the back of the vehicle)

The door has failed to open from either the inside or the outside - I haven't tried both at once. The handle seems to be stuck, but you can definitely pull it.

Suggestions?

 

its the child safety lock failed. you have to push it up its a pain and you have to use a tiny pick to do it.
