Default Rear door stuck and will not unlock on my 2000 Disco II

About a year ago my rear door on my 2000 Disco II started not unlocking when I would unlock all my doors, yet i could manually unlock it from the inside of the car by pulling on the inside rear door handle. About 3 weeks ago I tried to open it from the inside which I would normally be able to do and now it will not do anything when I pull the lever from inside the rear door. On the outside of the rear door, the handle is stuck in the unlock position and will not spring back nor can I open it. Any help regarding this will be greatly appreciated.

Pop off the LR oval and apply WD-40 or similar to the works. That should solve the stuck-in-open problem and allow the door to open in the previous manner. I'm guessing the first problem is the electrical lock mechanism and totally unrelated.

If you use silicon spray it wont collect dirt.
This is a 2-3 times a year preventative maintence deal.

child safety lock mechanism fell down. you need a pick to the back door and push up the lever. Have fun.
