Default 2001 Discovery II fuel management

What is the effect of pulling the plug on the inertia fuel cut off switch? Does that JUST dissengage the fuel pump, or does it also effect the ECU?
If it does effect the ECU, what are the effects? What is the most efficient way to dissengage the fuel pump without effecting the fuel injetors, ignition and the ECU?

I would guess pulling the fuel pump relay possibly..I'm not entirely sure though if that leaves injectors and ignition in working order.
