Default 4.0 rocker shaft diameter and tolerance

Anyone here have the specs for the rocker shaft diameter on a Rover 4.0 - 4.6 engine and the mfg tolerance for new shafts? Also is there a tolerance for used shafts so one can guage the wear on the shaft? Or does just the arm wear out in most cases? Also looking to find out what the best practices recommendation is as far as rocker shafts assys, IE: if there is x amount of "slop" do you just replace the rocker arm or do have to replace the shaft and arms both? Thanks, Dach.

Don't know the specs off hand but if you have slop they are probably pretty worn.

You could download the rave manual and check for tolerances.

Common practice is to replace shafts and rockers together and not put new rockers on old shafts or old rockers on new shafts.

Go to the website below and scroll down to "Identifying worn Rockers"...there are are some important notes there.

You also may find the vendor below to be helpful.

http://www.turnerengineering.co.uk/acatalog/4.6V8.html

Turner Engineering 611659L Rockershaft

$39.73 each

Turner Engineering 602154 Rocker

$11.27 each

Turner Engineering 602153 Rocker

$11.27 each

This is an overseas vendor but, they do have good quality parts and use what they sell. They also have good prices on some engine parts even after shipping.

Email them for a shipping quote and compare your bottom line with some of the U.S. vendors if you determine you need these. I haven't shopped around for these parts specifically but, there are vendors out of England selling some engine parts for good prices.
