Default 93 disco, wierd heater noise.

Is it normal for the heater to sound like its got a box of baby birds in it?
Seems to happen mostly when turning corners. Apart from that, heater works fine.
Anyone have same issue, and know what it is, how to fix, etc.
Thanks, Jeff.

Mouse nest in the fan box? Does it do it with the fan off?

sounds to me like your heater motor has some bad bearings or bushings. I took mine out on my D2, carefully removed the fan and oiled the motor bearings. Voila! quiet as a mouse. Or, it could be full of junk, paper wrappers, foam, other crap that falls into the intake. Check this post out; https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...r-motor-51337/

I just checked the link, I knew I should have searched first, before starting the thread. It was late, and I was being lazy.

By the way, the reason it squeaks worst when you drive around a corner is that the fan is basically like one of those toy gyroscopes, as it spins it wants to stay in the same plane, as we corner we force it out of that plane and it stresses the bearings. Squeak, squeak!

you need to replace the blower motor, take about 20 minutes you can get a good used one from either of the links in my sign.

Thanks guys, I've been reading up, and I'm almost ready to go out and dig into it.
I'll try cleaning it out, and greasing the bearings, and see what happens.

You can try to lubricate the bearings, but the sound will be back, guaranteed .
