Exclamation 97 discovery alternator keeps going bad

I just bought my 97 discovery with 171,000 miles on it last week

and 3 days ago i was driving (at night) and my ABS+SRS+BRAKE+ANTI-LOCK LIGHTS kept randomly comming on and off. (long story short My alternator was bad)

so i purchased and new alternator (w/ warranty) from O'reily -checker auto parts
took it to local repair shop had it installed, as well as replaced the battery .
car drove fine allll day long! until night time again lights all come on, tachometer +speedomter all go out then car dies out, unless i turn lights off..
I SHOULD ALSO MENTION
*THE GUY I BOUGHT IT FROM DEFINITLY KNEW ALTERNATOR WAS BAD BECAUSE HE HAD JUST REPLACED THE BATTERY AS WELL, im guessing hoping for quick sale before alternator went out..

all my dash buttons are also disconnected? even the sunroofs dont work but if u push button the motor runs...

is it my serpatine belt? is it grounding issue?
can anyone help me!

thanks in advance!!

Go back to the parts store you bought it from and have a charging system test performed, voltage should be between 13.6 and 14,4 volts.
You most likely have a typical, cheap build alternator that was not build right and checked before shipping.

Click this link and print off the diagram and take it to your mechanic.

If the belt is routed wrong, which is VERY easy to do the alternator will not charge the battery.
If the belt is routed correctly then you need a new alternator.
I went through 4 rebuilt alternators from 2 different autoparts stores in 2 years before I settled on a used one which has lasted twice as long as the rebuilts have and is still going strong.
