Will do that on the next oil change. Thanks for the info. Is that a good filter? I asked for a higher end filter.

Purolator L40316, WIX 51515 or 51773 are some. I tend to like the jumbo filter which adds more oil capacity. FRAM is all cardboard and promotional budget. Some run the really expensive filters, which is OK, if you don't try to extend the drain interval. Stay at 3,000 - 5,000.

Oil and filters should be done early and often, like voting in Chicago.

Here is a pix of two engines, both in the 185 - 190K range, one on a diet of Rotella or Castrol at 3,000 - 5,000 intervals. And mine that was not under previous ownership. Even use of a variety of snake oils and Rotella over two years was not enough to get rid of the gunk. I tried BG, Marvel Mystery Oil, ATF, GUNK.... so I must conclude that it would have looked a whole lot worse.

Is the WIX filter good enough or should we be using something else? I'll Check out a reader at the local parts store today.

WIX is a quality filter.
