Default Airbag light

I keep my1997 Kia Sportage around to drive to work because its good on gas. The airbag light has been on for sometime now but the airbag has never deployed. Of course my luck Virginia passed a new law this year that they cannot pass a safety inspection with the airbag light on. Anyone have any ideas how to get an airbag light off?

You have to find a shop with the proper scanner to go into the ECU, find the problem, repair it and clear the code, just like a Rover.
If you are lucky, it will be a low voltage issue, have you replaced or unhooked the battery prior to the light coming on?

Disconnecting the battery will cause the problem, not cure it. Very little if any of the Rover problems will be solved by cutting the current.
