Default Back Door hard to open 02 disco

Back door is very hard to open and close. It will open all the way and close again but with some effort. Feels like the hinges and/or the bar on the bottom that keeps it from opening too far.

My door does the same thing. I have tried lubing the check bar and hinges also. No improvement. My next step is the remove the checker assembly and clean and inspect it.

Same problem here as well. I drilled tiny holes in the hinges in a discrete area and injected oil into the hinge as well as cleaning the checker assembly and still no luck, atleast I don't need the gym any more.

I worked on mine today. I disconnected, removed and cleaned the check assembly. While it was out, I sprayed PB blaster into the hinges, I repetitively opened and closed the door, sprayed some more. Did this about 10 times. There was alot of dark brown PB blaster seeping out of the bottom of the hinge. The door got a lot easier to open and close. I sprayed the rails of the check assembly with a teflon lube and reinstalled it. Overall the door is much better.

The check assembly has a lot of old grease built up on it, now whem I open and close the door it has a definitive click when it goes over the detents. Before it was caked in grease and I could feel but not hear them.

The main source of resistance was the hinges in my case.
