Default Clean & Prep.

Hey guys on my previous thread I stated I was doing heads on my disco..
I would like if someone could help give me a straight forward answer on how to clean the mating surfaces of the heads. Through research I've found that it is a bad idea to use abrasives but I'm also being told I can use 4 ott steal wool on the surfaces..

Also the owner before me WELDED The brush guard on.. is there anyway to get the radiator out without pulling the front end apart?

Any help would be appreciated.

Gage

3M makes an abrasive-impregnated rubber bristle brush that GM recommended for their aluminum blocks, 3M 07527. Russ

I use WD40, a rag, and some elbow grease to remove any debris. Then hit the surfaces with a knife sharpening/honing stone. Use the fine side. If there are any uneven surfaces you will see based on the differences in sheen. Keep working until the finish is uniform.

For piston tops I use the green 3m Roloc plastic adhesive pads on a drill.

Where can I get that? An auto parts store? Also what grade do I need as far as abrasiveness
