Check the seal between the header and y-pipe. I thought it was a lifter too, until I was under there (trying to pinpoint the noise with the truck running) and felt the exhaust leak.

Not sure what it would cost to replace headers and y pipe. All I did was tighten everything up. Unfortunately I am missing most of one stud on the header so I can't tighten the nut much without feeling like it will strip the stud. I have not fixed it totally yet. I just deal with the slight tic for now.

What oil are you running? I had a ticking noise, changed the oil to 10w40 (it was running 5w30) and it went away.
